Reverse chronological resume:

A reverse chronological resume lists a person’s job experiences in chronological order. It generally covers past 10 to 15 years.It is used by those persons who are not a professional resume writer. In this format, the main body of the document becomes the professional experience section. This format starts forms the most recent experience and moving chronologically backward through a succession of previous experience.

Functional resume:

A functional resume lists work experience and skill area or job function. It is used to focus on skills that are required by the nature of job and position.It works well for those making a career change, having a varied work history or with little work experience and also for those applications to jobs that require very specific skills. Rather than focus on length of time that has passed, it allows the reader to identify required skills quickly.

HOW TO WRITE AN EFFECTIVE RESUME:

These are the following steps one should follow for an effective resume-

Heading:

Type your name at the top with the large and bold font, write your phone number and email address along with your permanent address.

OBJECTIVES-

It is very important to write a good objective before moving forward in resume writing. Clearly, state the position you are seeking through the job. You can also include the industry and any skills you want to emphasize. Avoid phrases and your resume must support the objective.

EDUCATION-

Describe your degree, major, graduation date and school, include certificates of achievements and job training. You may include your GPA whether it is high or low. It may impact on employer’s expectation.

SKILLS-

Include specific skills that pertain to your objects such as computer languages, technical skills, lab techniques and you may include interpersonal and adaptive skills such as leadership, writing research, teamwork. Be sure to back up on your resume with specific and convincing evidence.

EXPERIENCE-

Write your most extensive experience to convince the employer that you have the skills required for the job. Articulate your accomplishment clearly. You can include professional or extracurricular activities and awards.

THINGS TO AVOID:

Keep references on a separate sheet and give to the employer when asked. Don’t write your age, religious and political affiliation, marital status and any other personal data.
